FarFetch customers sailing the Mediterranean Sea can browse online and pick up their orders in the nearest port.

A luxury online marketplace with a billion-dollar valuation is making it easier for its high-end clientele to receive purchases regardless of whether they’re on land or at sea.

FarFetch UK Ltd., No. 93 in the Internet Retailer 2015 Europe 500 Guide, has launched a yacht delivery service called FarFetch & Away that will allow customers sailing into certain ports on the Mediterranean Sea to receive their goods once they dock. The service is temporary, running from July 8 through Sept. 16, and includes a dozen ports high-end destinations, such as Cannes, France; Mykonos, Greece; and Barcelona, Spain.

Here’s how it works: Customers shop the marketplace online and reach out via phone after they have made their selections, calling a special private client line. FarFetch will then ship the goods via standard delivery to whichever port the customer chooses. There is a next-day delivery option available, though the customer would have to be shopping from a boutique at that particular port.

The white-glove treatment doesn’t stop there. According to FarFetch’s e-commerce site, a customer can try on her purchase while still onboard her yacht and return it immediately if she’s not satisfied.

“We are really pleased to have been able to launch the port delivery service,” a FarFetch spokesman said via email. “(It’s) made possible really by our unique omnichannel model and fantastic network of boutique partners.”
