Consumers who don’t want to venture out in the cold and damp to buy tax preparation software can now download popular titles through an Office Depot Inc. promotion.

OfficeDepot.com is featuring downloadable federal and state income tax preparation applications from TurboTax and H&R Block, among other publishers. The promotion is part of a program called Software Your Way and is designed to provide tax software online or in stores. Web shoppers can purchase and download the software or choose to have the boxed version shipped to their home or office.

“We recognize that our customers have different preferences and needs when it comes to purchasing software,” says Randy Wick, vice president of merchandising for Office Depot, No. 5 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. “By increasing the ways customers can obtain the most popular software titles, we are expanding our reach and further addressing the needs of our growing customer base.”

To complement the rollout of Office Depot’s promotion, customers who purchase tax software online or in-store, or buy tax forms in-store, can get additional free software titles after instant or mail-in savings. Among the 24 free titles are exclusive bundles such as Norton Internet Security/Norton Utilities Premier and Serif PhotoPlus/MoviePlus Bundle. Other titles include Kaspersky Internet Security, PDF Converter Professional and Print Artist Platinum.
