SourceForge Inc., the parent of toy, game and novelty product online retailer ThinkGeek, has named Scott L. Kauffman as president and CEO and a member of the board of directors.

SourceForge Inc., the parent of toy, game and novelty product retailer ThinkGeek Inc., has named Scott L. Kauffman as president and CEO and a member of the board of directors. ThinkGeek is No. 268 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

Kauffman is a veteran of Internet and e-commerce companies. Most recently, he was president and CEO of PopTok, a start-up company that personalizes and digitizes television, movie and music video snippets for use in conversations on social networking sites such as Facebook and in instant messaging. Previously, Kauffman was president and chief operating officer at BlueLithium, an Internet advertising network and performance marketing company that was acquired by Yahoo in September 2007. He also has held executive positions at Coremetrics, Zinio, MusicNow, eCoverage and CompuServe.

Kauffman has joined the company in a part-time role during his transition to management responsibilities on Jan. 5.

SourceForge reported e-commerce revenue of $6.7 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2009, up by about 13% from $5.9 million in the same quarter of FY 2008.

Total revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2009, ended Oct. 31, 2008, increased by about 17%, or $1.8 million, from $10.3 million in Q1 of fiscal 2008 to $12.1 million. Net loss for Q1 2009 was $400,000, compared with a net loss of $1.1 million in the prior year period.
