Peppercoin, a provider of payments technology that supports the sale of digital content and low-ticket items, has appointed Charles Caserta to lead its merchant sales program as vice president of sales and market development, the company said today.

Caserta, who reports to president and CEO Mark Friedman, will also lead Peppercoin’s partnerships with financial services companies. Charlie’s outstanding domain knowledge of card associations and financial and banking technologies, combined with his excellent track record of working with growing companies, make him a valuable addition to the Peppercoin team, Friedman said.

Caserta joins Waltham, MA-based Peppercoin from Thornebrook Associates, a consulting firm specializing in financial services and technology, where he served as executive vice president of business development and chairman of the board. Prior to Thornebrook, Caserta served as president and CEO of Livewire, a provider of kiosk technology.

Caserta is also co-founder and former president of IFS International Inc., a company that developed and licensed financial transaction authorization and debit card management systems. He established IFS as a major financial transaction system supplier in Eastern Europe, building a distribution network that included MasterCard, Visa, IBM and Citibank.
