Internet Retailer magazine today announced its Top 50 Best of the Web online retailing web sites. These sites represent the best in what retailers can do online, says Kurt T. Peters, editor of Internet Retailer. The Top 50 recognizes retailers who take an innovative approach to the web, whether it be in selling on the web or in using the web to help implement a multi-channel strategy.

They range in size from Amazon.com, which year after year has continued to execute a brilliant online strategy while growing rapidly, to AuntiesBeads.com, with sales of about $5 million a year but which is using its web site as a means to pinpoint where it wants to open stores. In addition, AuntiesBeads.com was recognized in a recent e-mail survey as one of only a few online retailers who complied with all aspects of the CAN-Spam legislation and engaged in other e-mail marketing practices, proving once again that a retailer doesn’t have to be big to excel.
