2018 Top Ecommerce Startups
There’s still plenty of room for innovation in e-retailing—and these newbies prove it
Amazon dominates online retailing, but that hasn’t closed the door to innovative newcomers that wow consumers with unique products, great service or unheard-of convenience. A just-released 56-page report from Internet Retailer, The Ecommerce Startups, identifies for the first time 72 retailers that began selling online in 2015 or later; details their 2017 web sales ranges and growth rates and provides data and analysis on how as a group they doubled sales last year.
Some of these e-retail startups include established brands like Canada Goose and Alfred Dunner trying to make up for sagging store sales, and others are brand new companies with unique products like assemble-it-yourself sofa maker Burrow and Ivory Ella, the social media star that’s built a business on Save The Elephants T-shirts. Whatever their origins, many of these newbies are breaking new ground in marketing and customer service, innovations all e-retailers can learn from.
