During the five-day period between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, REI was the second most-mentioned merchant on social networks, according to a report from Salesforce. REI, which received 24,238 mentions, for the second straight year highlighted its decision to close stores on Black Friday with its #OptOutside campaign that encouraged consumers to spend time outdoors. Amazon was the first most-mentioned retailer, thanks in large part to its Black Friday Deals Week campaign.
