In July 2016, cosmetics brand L’Oreal Group in agreed to acquire IT Cosmetics for $1.2 billion in cash, adding more than 300 skin-care and makeup products to its lineup. IT Cosmetics, backed by TSG Consumer Partners, became part of L’Oreal’s Luxe division. IT Cosmetics posted a sales increase of 56% to $182 million in the 12 months ended in June 2016, selling its products on its website and through QVC Group and the Shopping Channel, as well as via retailers such as Ulta Beauty and Sephora USA Inc. TSG Consumer Partners, a private equity firm with about $5 million in assets under management, made its name by investing in consumer brands and is expanding its fashion and beauty portfolio.
