#102
Rank in U.S.
Performance Score:
57 out of 100

E-commerce sales at apparel retail chain Express grew 2.9% for the first nine months of 2016, buoyed by 15% growth in Q3. Online and store sales did not grow in Q1 and Q1 and CEO David Kornberg pegged the sales drop to declining traffic to its stores as well as porduct lines that were too widespread and broad, giving the customers had too many choices. The retailer plans to boost marketing that targets its core customer base both online and in stores. For example, Express plans to be more strategic in its email marketing messages by sending more personalized email based on consumers’ preferences. Express also plans to increase its focus on e-commerce by improving its website.
