Luxury handbag maker Coach is focusing on growing its digital footprint abroad. The company launched a U.K. e-commerce site at the end of its fiscal 2016 second quarter and will expand to all of Europe by the end of 2017. “We also continue to gain traction in Asia,” says CEO Victor Luis. “In Japan, we’ve made great progress getting onto [messaging app] Line and, in China, not only Sina Weibo, where we’re one of the leading fashion brands in terms of number of followers, but also on WeChat, where we’ve also been leading the way.” Luis says more than half of all U.S. visitors to access the site on a mobile device. The retailer says it is also continuing to scale back online discounts.
