AutoZone Inc.’s sales from customers who order online and pick up in stores are rising, but the company is struggling with online sales shipped directly to consumers, CEO Bill Rhodes said in a conference call with analysts in December 2016. AutoZone reported online sales were down 4.2% for the fiscal first quarter of 2017, which ended Nov. 19. But the decrease reflected only online orders shipped directly to consumers. Online purchases picked up in stores helped grow the company’s total sales for the period by 3.3%. E-commerce revenue includes all sales from AutoZone.com, AllData.com, which sells diagnostic and related repair work software, and AutoAnything.com, an online auto parts retailer.
