A $25.3 million Series A investment positions Builder FirstSource to bring Digs' AI-powered homebuilding and digital twin capabilities to the distributor's builder network.

Builders FirstSource is leading a $25.3 million Series A round of financing for the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered homebuilders and homeowners platform Digs, forming a new partnership as a result.

In their commercial agreement, Builders FirstSource and Digs will pursue product development and platform integration over five years. The work will introduce Digs’ AI features to residential homebuilders, ultimately passing along new options to homeowners as well.

The move marks a new step forward for Builders FirstSource’s digital strategy as it tries to grow its digital sales and services to professional builders.

Why Builders FirstSource is investing in Digs

“Our customers are looking for seamless technology that helps them operate more efficiently and deliver a better homeowner experience,” said Peter Jackson, CEO of Builders FirstSource. “By combining Builders FirstSource’s scale, deep customer relationships, product data, and extensive digital ecosystem with Digs’ AI platform, we are advancing tools that can simplify workflows, improve productivity, and create a more connected experience across the homebuilding lifecycle, enabling us to serve our customers in new ways at every stage.”

For Builders FirstSource, that means leveraging Digs to make construction documents, plans, specifications and other resources accessible. In many cases, those artifacts, which are often physical, can otherwise remain disconnected.

The company outlined that its goals are to empower builders by enabling stakeholders to reference the same information sources related to purchasing, construction, design, sales and homeowner care. Meanwhile, it intends to give homeowners increased transparency as construction projects proceed, offering digital twins of homes that remain available after residents move in.

Currently, the company counts 565 locations in 43 U.S. states. It handles manufacturing, distribution and assembly for a range of products. Those categories encompass roof and floor trusses, wall panels, windows, doors and more.

What the partnership means for Digs

“Our vision has always been beyond construction software,” said Ryan Fink, CEO and co-founder of Digs. “We’re building the AI platform that understands every home.”

Fink said he sees Builders FirstSource as a path to growing Digs’ user base, ultimately helping the platform meet its growth targets.

“Builders FirstSource brings national reach, industry relationships, product data, and market scale,” Fink stated. “Together, we’re creating something even beyond the next generation of residential construction. We’re creating the first scalable true digital twin of the home for homeowners to power new experiences for the life of their home.”

In addition, Digs plans to implement new upgrades to its platform. Specifically, it noted features such as AI chat, files, electronic signatures, QR codes, comments, tasks and project collaboration. It also aims to reduce interruptions for project teams while simultaneously keeping homeowners informed as construction progresses.
