PPG Industries Inc. — a paints, coatings, and specialty materials manufacturer — has hired Brad Budde as vice president and chief digital officer, effective Sept. 6.

An old-line paint manufacturing company has named a new chief digital officer to head up its strategy for ecommerce and digital transformation. PPG Industries Inc. — a paints, coatings, and specialty materials manufacturer — has hired Brad Budde as vice president and chief digital officer, effective Sept. 6.

Brad Budde, who will join PPG as chief digital officer on Sept. 6.

He will report to chief growth officer Irene Tasi. Budde wi’ll lead the company’s digital strategy and execution to accelerate customer digital engagement, PPG says.

A veteran B2B ecommerce executive, Budde most recently served as vice president, digital customer experience for Emerson Electric Co. During his more than 15 years at Emerson, he held roles of increasing responsibility, including leading the company’s digital product development roadmaps across Emerson.com and MyEmerson, digital engineering tools, ecommerce, sales enablement, and digital analytics.

Budde earned an MBA in entrepreneurship from the University of St. Thomas – Opus College of Business. Prior, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from North Dakota State University.

PPG sells through a network of more than 15,00 locations. They include more than 500 PPG Paints stores in the United States. PPG’s retail network also includes independent retailers, home improvement retailers The Home Depot, Lowe’s and Menards. In Canada, it also includes Dulux. It also sells through a direct sales force and a growing online ordering service.

The Home Depot Inc.  ranks No. 4 in the 2022 Digital Commerce 360 Top 1000 database. The Top 1000 ranks North American e-retailers by web sales. Lowe’s Cos. Inc. ranks No. 11 in the Top 1000, and Menards ranks No. 133.
