Online shoppers have a lot on their minds. They are regularly bombarded with flashy new tools, such as augmented reality and visual and voice search, that often promise to save them time, simplify their lives and solve shopper problems.

I’m frequently skeptical of those claims and wait to see if they take hold before trying them out. I thought that I was in the minority in that respect. However, based on an August Internet Retailer/Bizrate Insights survey of 965 online shoppers, it appears I have plenty of company in my approach.

42% of respondents don’t use any of the seven new and emerging technologies we asked about, which range from voice search to augmented reality tools.
