Top 500 retailers have gotten the message that consumers don’t want to pay for shipping. Most are offering free shipping on at least some orders, and a significant number offer free shipping on all orders, especially in categories where the average order is relatively high.
In fact, 77 of the merchants in the 2018 Internet Retailer Top 500, or 15.4%, offer free shipping on virtually all orders, at least when the address is in the 48 contiguous U.S. states. 346 of the Top 500, or 68.0%, offer free shipping on some orders, with 166 requiring a specific minimum order size and the rest offering free shipping in certain circumstances.
