The payments processor also made several executive promotions.

PayPal Holdings Inc. has named William Ready chief operating officer, the first time that position has been filled since PayPal became an independent company in July 2015.

Previously, Ready was PayPal’s senior vice president, global head of product and engineering for nine months. Prior to that he was the payment provider’s senior vice president, merchant and next generation commerce. Before PayPal, Ready was CEO of payments process Braintree Inc., which PayPal acquired in December 2013.

PayPal also made several other promotions. Gary Marino is an executive vice president and chief commercial officer. Previously, Marino was PayPal’s senior vice president of the Americas and global credit, according to LinkedIn. Louise Pentland is an executive vice president, chief business affairs, and will continue to be the company’s chief legal officer.

PayPal also promoted the following to executive vice president positions: John Rainey, PayPal’s chief financial officer; Jonathan Auerbach, PayPal’s chief strategy and growth officer; and Tomer Barel, PayPal’s chief risk and data officer. The company also made Franz Paasche a senior vice president of corporate affairs and communications; he will continue his responsibilities for government relations, communications and social innovation.
