Newegg opened a distribution center to speed delivery to shoppers in Western Canada.

Newegg Inc. continues to boost efforts to reach shoppers north of the border.

The online-only electronics retailer, No. 17 in the Internet Retailer 2015 Top 500 Guide, opened a new distribution facility in Richmond, British Columbia today. Newegg, based in suburban Los Angeles, says the new warehouse will facilitate faster delivery to shoppers in Western Canada, cutting delivery times by up to two days to Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan and Yukon Territory.

“Putting down roots in Western Canada is integral to our plan to serve our Canadian customers,” Newegg chief operating officer James Wu said.

This new facility gives Newegg two in Canada, with the other one being located in Toronto. A Newegg spokesman says the facility is 64,000 square feet, with only 41,000 square feet being used initially. Newegg did not elaborate on if there are plans to open more Canadian centers in the near future.

The move comes two months after Newegg began allowing non-Canadian retailers to sell online through its Newegg.ca online marketplace
