OMAHA, NE (July 30, 2015) – Omaha-based payments consultancy The Strawhecker Group (TSG) is pleased to announce the promotion of David Laferla to Chief Financial Officer. As part of this advancement, Mr. Laferla will formally join TSG’s Board of Directors and continue to provide his input on the financial and strategic decision process of the firm.
As Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Laferla’s primary responsibility centers on managing the risks of the firm, providing financial planning and management, as well as legal and data security compliance and governance. As legal and data compliance becomes increasingly complex, this role is critical to the success of TSG.
Mr. Laferla has 35 years of executive experience in banking as well as extensive experience in finance, operations and project management. His experience with a prior consulting firm includes projects with the U.S. Navy and activities with other large government contractors. During his time with a large national bank, he served in a variety of management capacities including relationship and sales management. He also served in a number of management positions such as CFO of a regional bank & holding company.
When Mr. Laferla started with TSG in December 2006, he took over at the infant stage of the financial and billing responsibilities. Since that time, he has instituted countless processes and procedures to ensure that TSG operates at a high-level of efficiency.
Mr. Laferla earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska Omaha and is a graduate of the B.A.I. School for Bank Administration located at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Mr. Laferla is married and has two children. He is a member of the Suburban Rotary Club of Omaha, serving in a number of capacities such as Club Treasurer and Trustee and Treasurer of the Suburban Rotary Charitable Foundation. Mr. Laferla has previously served as a director of Opera Omaha, Downtown YMCA, and part of the Parish Council of St. Wenceslaus Catholic. His leisure time activities include gardening, reading, travel and golf.
