Smartphone shoppers are getting a special dessert on Thanksgiving from Staples Inc. The office supplies chain  will offer mobile-only deals on its mobile commerce site beginning at 11 p.m. Eastern Thanksgiving night and running through 11 a.m. on Black Friday, the hectic shopping day after Thanksgiving. Staples will not reveal the deals until Thanksgiving. The retailer says the deals will continue when its stores open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday.

“Staples knows that consumers are increasingly turning to their mobile devices to not only shop but do research in-store and on the go,” says Prat Vemana, director of mobile at Staples. “We also know that customers are shopping earlier than ever on Black Friday.”

Staples, No. 18 in the Internet Retailer Mobile 400, views mobile technology as glue that binds together online and store commerce.“Staples believes mobile is a cross-channel shopping companion, and this is especially true during Black Friday week,” Vemana says. “We want to make the shopping experience easy for our customers and will continue to use mobile as a way to talk to them about the latest deals, products and services we have to offer.”

Staples plans a variety of deals for Black Friday beyond mobile. Starting on Sunday, Nov. 18, Black Friday savings will be available all week with special deals in-store and online. And Staples.com will debut special two-day deals on Mondays and Tuesdays from Nov. 12 through Dec. 18 with special deals on technology products and additional items.
