In an unexpected turn of events, online apparel sales managed to grow 21.8% while offline U.S. apparel sales declined nearly 40% in 2020. Throughout the pandemic, U.S. consumers spent $110.68 billion on online apparel and mass merchants—including Walmart, Amazon and Target—were responsible for a staggering 42% of all U.S. online apparel purchases.
