Net sales declined 8% for Apple in its fiscal 2016 to $215.64 billion. The drop primarily was driven by a year-over-year decrease in iPhone sales and the effect of the strong U.S. dollar, Apple reported, which partially was offset by an increase in services revenue. Its services business includes digital sales through its App Store, iTunes, and other segments. Total sales in Japan increased 8% in 2016 for Apple, while sales in all other markets that it breaks out declined. In October 2016, Apple filed a lawsuit against a supplier of power adapters and charging cables, alleging that it counterfeited the Apple brand and sold the products to Inc. and Groupon Inc.
