Fred Argir oversaw supply chain efforts for Target, and also worked at Fingerhut.

Sports Authority has hired a new senior vice president and chief information officer. Fred Argir will oversee technology purchases and development, along with related tasks, for the retailer, which is No. 205 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

Argir comes from Target Corp., No. 21 in The Guide, where he was vice president, supply chain. He oversaw the development of the retail chain’s supply chain efforts, and his responsibilities spanned such areas as transportation, merchandising and business intelligence.

Prior to Target, Argir worked as senior vice president and chief information officer for Fingerhut Corp. The direct marketing firm now is known as Bluestem Brands Inc., No. 88 in the Top 500 Guide. Bluestem is in the process of becoming a public company.
