Bergdorf Goodman finds a new president

CEO of Shopbop, Darcy Penick, has been appointed president of luxury apparel retailer Bergdorf Goodman, part of Neiman Marcus Group, No. 43 in the Internet Retailer 2018 Top 1000. Penick starts her new position Sept. 4.

Joshua Schulman was president of Bergdorf Goodman until he left about a year ago to join Coach. Since then, Jim Gold, president and chief merchandising officer of Neiman Marcus, has been filling in as president at Bergdorf Goodman.

Earlier in her career, Penick held buying and managerial jobs at Saks Fifth Avenue (owned by Hudson’s Bay Co., No. 36 in the Top 1000), Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. She joined Saks Fifth Avenue in 2006 as senior buyer, and then transitioned to Shopbop, a subsidiary of Amazon.com Inc. (No. 1), in 2009 as the divisional merchandise manager before becoming CEO in October 2015.

“Darcy’s impressive leadership skills, coupled with her success in digital and international retail make her the perfect choice to accelerate global growth at Bergdorf Goodman,”  says Geoffroy van Raemdonck, CEO of Neiman Marcus Group. “I have every confidence that Darcy will partner with our very talented existing team to bring even greater luster to Bergdorf Goodman and continue to elevate the brand as one of the world’s most prestigious luxury retailers.”
