David’s Bridal deployed Forter’s fraud-prevention platform, a move the retailer said improved transaction approval rates.
The retailer said the deployment, completed within six days, is its latest step in its “Aisle to Algorithm” transformation. David’s Bridal seeks to expand its company beyond traditional retail, increasingly incorporating its AI-powered wedding planning and marketplace platform, Pearl. It has also invested in its Pearl Media Network to build new revenue streams outside its core dress business.
David’s Bridal has deployed Forter’s fraud-prevention platform. Within the first two weeks of launch, David’s Bridal shared that it achieved a 99.78% approval rate. That has improved authorization performance while reducing unnecessary friction for legitimate guests, according to the retailer.
David’s Bridal is No. 460 in the Top 1000 Database. The market research tool tracks North America’s largest online retailers, ranking them by annual e-commerce sales and more.
David’s Bridal is also No. 178 in Digital Commerce 360’s new AI Rankings. That set of rankings is available in the Top 1000 Pro with AI Database.
David’s Bridal fraud prevention subhead
“Every technology investment we make starts with one objective: creating a better experience for our guests while building a more agile business,” said Scott Saeger, chief technology officer at David’s Bridal, in a statement.
David’s Bridal credited its IT team, Forter and Chief Digital Agency with executing the multi-day implementation. Forter said it offered an AI Integration Agent and an AI coding kit to support implementation.
David’s Bridal also shared that this fraud-prevention platform deployment tied into its broader strategy to modernize its commerce infrastructure. It said the deployment enables it to “rapidly adopt best-in-class technologies that improve David’s guest experience while accelerating business performance.”
Additionally, the retailer referred to itself as operating “in one of commerce’s most nuanced fraud environments.”
“Bridal purchasing behavior, including guests who are one-time or infrequent purchasers, multiple shipping addresses tied to a single billing address and freight forwarders, can look like fraud to systems trained on conventional retail signals,” David’s Bridal said.
The retailer said investments in its underlying commerce infrastructure, which now include Forter, help to improve the consumer experience from planning and discovery to checkout.
David’s Bridal said it selected Forter for the provider’s accuracy in distinguishing fraud from “the legitimate edge cases that define complex commerce categories like bridal.”
Forter said its AI uses a network of 2 billion shoppers and nearly 1 million merchants. In doing so, it said, it makes confident decisions on limited-history, high-value transactions. It claims that, on average, merchants that switch to its technology see a 46% reduction in false declines.
