AliExpress launched its June Summer Sale event for the first 10 days of June, promoting discounts across its Brand+ channel, consumer product categories and AliExpress Business with discounts and creator-led livestreams.

The event, which concludes June 10, takes place globally. A spokesperson for AliExpress told Digital Commerce 360 that it would reach across 12 markets. Those markets include the U.S., Brazil, Germany, Italy, Japan and Spain.

In those markets, the Alibaba Group-owned platform has planned for more than 100 livestreamers that are scheduled to broadcast throughout the sales event. AliExpress cited talent such as 911Reviews, Jakidale, and Escolha Segura among those participating. Each of those named reaches more than 1 million subscribers through their channels.

How AliExpress will use livestreaming during its Summer Sale

By using livestreaming, AliExpress seeks to entice shoppers with an interactive approach that it has tested and honed, building off of its company’s work in China and elsewhere.

“Summer is a peak season for discovery, whether shoppers are gearing up for outdoor adventures or refreshing their home setups,” said Chris Gu, U.S. country manager for AliExpress. “With Brand+, we’re making it easier to find official products from recognized global brands, while our new creator-led livestreams offer a dynamic way to see these products in action.”

Brand+ is AliExpress’s channel specialized in authenticated products from participating brands. There, the platform promotes products from established brands, offering free shipping and returns across categories including consumer electronics, home improvement and lifestyle.

Meanwhile, AliExpress Business offers additional benefits to customers such as influencers, wholesalers and drop-shippers.

Throughout the event, AliExpress has planned activations and giveaways externally on Reddit, where it will target hobbyists and other shoppers.

AliExpress’s recent expansion

AliExpress operates in more than 200 countries and regions where it seeks to compete on price.

The platform offers AliExpress Choice, a membership program with perks such as free shipping, free returns, delivery guarantees and deal offers.

During Alibaba’s May 13 earnings call with investors, Toby Xu, the chief financial officer at Alibaba Group, cited Choice as an area where the company was seeing advancement, especially in the context of its strengths in logistics optimization and operating efficiency.

“The unit economics of AliExpress’ Choice business continue to improve substantially on a sequential basis,” Xu stated.
