Omaha Steaks will open more than a dozen retail stores in 2026 and expand its fulfillment network, it announced.
The company is pivoting resources toward direct-to-consumer sales, subscriptions and corporate gifting while exiting its foodservice business. Omaha Steaks said it plans for the investments to speed delivery, including next-day service to most U.S. households and same-day delivery in select markets.
Omaha Steaks will also consolidate production into its larger F Street facility in Omaha. It will transfer operations from its 96th Street site as part of a modernization effort that includes added capacity, technology upgrades and 24/7 production.
“As we grow our store network and expand our fulfillment capabilities, we’re creating a faster, more convenient way for customers to access our premium proteins,” said Nate Rempe, president and CEO.
Omaha Steaks is No. 139 in the Top 2000 Database. That database ranks North America’s largest online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales and more.
Omaha Steaks to open more retail stores, expand fulfillment
The operational changes sharpen the company’s focus on retail stores, ecommerce, subscriptions and corporate gifting — channels Omaha Steaks said are driving growth. The company also will wind down its food service business to redirect capital and labor to those areas.
Omaha Steaks said recent investments at the F Street plant expanded processing capacity and infrastructure to support multi-shift, round-the-clock production. The company said the strategy will position inventory closer to customers through an expanded network of fulfillment locations, improving delivery speed while maintaining cold-chain standards.
Founded in 1917, Omaha Steaks built its brand through catalog and online sales of frozen steaks and proteins shipped in insulated packaging. In recent years, it has added brick-and-mortar stores and subscription offerings as consumers increased online purchasing of specialty food items.
The company did not disclose how many fulfillment sites it operates or where the new stores will open.
