Famous Footwear is making an omnichannel push.
The retail chain is rolling out buy online, pick up in store capabilities throughout its entire chain of stores, which numbers more than 1,000 in the U.S. Shoppers can pick up their online orders at a store within two hours of placing an online order.
“Giving our customers the opportunity to pick shoes up the same day is a big plus,” division president Rick Ausick said last week in announcing the initiative. “With our convenient locations, it makes it very easy. We quickly saw the success of this program in our pilot.”
The company wanted to have the offering in place ahead of the back-to-school shopping season, which is a busy time for the retailer, Ausick said.

- Restaurant industry veteran Scott Hudler is the new chief marketing officer at sporting goods retailer Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc., No. 56 in the Internet Retailer 2017 Top 500. Hudler was most recently chief digital officer at Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc. At Dick’s, he’ll be responsible for helpingstrengthen the link between the retailer’s online and offline channels to improve the shopper experience.
- There has been an executive shakeup at multichannel personalized gifts retailer Things Remembered Inc. (No. 371). The retailer promoted chief merchandising officer Nelson Tejada to president from chief merchandising officer. He’s taking over the responsibilities, but not the job title, of now-former CEO Lisa Gavales, who resigned. Meanwhile, chief financial officer Dave Helkey added the role of chief operating officer.
- Women’s apparel retailer Christopher & Banks Corp. (No. 363) is seeking a new chief operating officer and chief financial officer in the wake of Pete Michielutti’s resignation. Michielutti will leave the retailer at the end of this week, according to the company.
- Women’s specialty apparel retailer Yandy LLC (No. 429) hired Toby Noiles as its new chief marketing and merchandising officer. Noiles comes from Sam’s Club (parent company Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is No. 3 in the Top 500), where she was most recently senior vice president of merchandising. Noiles has also worked for online grocer FreshDirect LLC (No. 79) as its chief merchandising officer.
