The 34 food and beverage retailers in Digital Commerce 360’s Top 1000 grew 30.7% in online sales in 2019. This growth is higher than the 2.4% total retail growth grocery retailers experienced last year. Meanwhile, online penetration continues to climb, representing 4.3% of total retail sales last year, up from 3.4% in 2018. With more people turning to online grocery shopping because of the coronavirus, the online penetration of food and beverage sales is expected to continue rising over the next year.
