While much of the retail industry was still working to match Amazon.com Inc.’s Prime two-day free shipping program, the retail giant in late-April announced plans to evolve Prime into a one-day shipping program. Amazon says it’s investing $800 million in the second quarter in the effort, and that in recent months it had “significantly” expanded its one-day eligible product selection, as well as the number of ZIP codes eligible for one-day shipping.
