Sales of apparel and accessories are rapidly shifting to the web, with more than 25% of the category’s sales occurring online in 2016. Amazon has been leading the shift the last few years as it continues to invest in its private-label apparel brands. The retailer launched at least seven private-label apparel brands in 2016. Sales of Amazon’s own apparel products increased 67% in the fourth quarter of 2016 compared with Q3, according to Slice Intelligence data.
