Web sales growth for growing retailers

The median web sales growth for the group was 25.0% year over year, higher than 2020’s 23.7%. While not a significant boost from 2020, it is markedly higher than pre-pandemic 2019 median web sales growth of 16.3%. For the 2021 two-year stacked period, the  median web sales growth for Next 1000 retailers was 54.6%.

Merchants with physical locations were largely able to reopen their locations in 2021, allowing shoppers to once again choose between shopping in store versus online. The fact that 2012 growth remained above the 2019 level, despite store reopenings, demonstrates that shoppers grew increasingly comfortable shopping online during the pandemic and likely will continue to do so.
