The holidays held their own, as the 2021 season’s online sales reached $211.41 billion, according to Digital Commerce 360. That’s up 10.0% year over year, and a 54.9% increase compared with the 2019 holiday season.

Digital Commerce 360 conducted a survey in January and February this year of 56 retailers. Half of these retailers said their holiday season revenue increased 11% or more, with 61% saying sales were up overall, aligning with industry trends.

Retailer achievements were abundant this holiday

It started with growth; 38% of respondents reported strong increases in online marketplace sales as their top 2021 holiday season achievement. Retailers had the challenging task of manage their workforce during a pandemic, so kudos to the 29% who indicated they reached this achievement in the past year.
