Natural Grocers, a chain of 162 stores across 20 states, is increasing its inventory of natural and organic produce through the RangeMe internet sourcing platform to meet pandemic-related demand for nutritional foods, the chain says.

Natural Grocers, a Lakewood, Colorado-based grocery chain specializing in natural and organic foods, is going online to meet pandemic-driven increased demand for healthful foods, the company says.

Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage Inc., which operates 162 stores across 20 states, said net sales increased 3.2% year over year to $272.6 million for the fiscal fourth quarter ended September 30, as full-year net sales gained 1.8% to $1.1 billion. The company sells only USDA-certified organic produce, pasture-raised, non-confinement dairy products, and free-range eggs.

To maintain and strengthen its growth in sales as demand increases for natural and organic foods, Natural Grocers has signed on with RangeMe, an internet-based sourcing platform designed to help retailers find and connect with suppliers.

“Our new partnership with RangeMe will help in streamlining Natural Grocers’ vendor-submission program,” says Laura Perkins, vice president of purchasing, adding, “The digitization of the process means that before samples are even sent, we can quickly see which vendor submissions meet our high-quality standards. The efficiency this brings to our process helps save on shipping and packaging waste and allows the purchasing team time to focus on key items and categories that we are looking to expand.”

Other retail chains that have recently signed on with RangeMe include Tesco plc, a United Kingdom-based grocery chain. Other retail chains using RangeMe include Albertsons, Walmart, Walgreens, Sephora and Petco and 7-Eleven.
