Emerson Electric Co., a Ferguson, Missouri-based manufacturer and distributor of industrial valves and instruments used in operating industrial and residential facilities, sees a big future for digital technology—and commerce.

Emerson is nearly two years into a digital and ecommerce transformation that gives its core customers access to a digital portal with tools that enable engineers to configure products online along with other applications.

The portal—MyEmerson, a part of Emerson.com—launched in September 2019 with the aim of giving engineers and engineering support teams access to digital content, planning tools and ecommerce features that speed up engineering design and collaboration. MyEmerson runs on ecommerce technology from HCL Technologies, which acquired the WebSphere ecommerce technology and related products from IBM Corp. in 2019. (HCL has since renamed WebSphere as HCL Commerce.)
