Google and Adobe are the two leading web analytics technology providers to companies listed in the new 2018 B2B E-Commerce 300.

The top companies in the new 2018 edition of the B2B E-Commerce 300 rely on technology to drive online sales and manage a growing pool of data. In a market projected to reach $1 trillion by 2019, the right technology can streamline functions, cut costs and grow sales. For all the special needs of B2B e-commerce sites, however, the key technology applications among companies listed cover the fundamentals that are core to any high-performance B2B commerce website.

The two most dominant categories of technology as reported by the B2B E-Commerce 300 are web analytics and e-commerce platforms. The B2B E-Commerce 300 database lists the web analytics technology vendors for 233 companies and the vendors of e-commerce platforms for 191 companies.

Web analytics software measures such concrete details as how many people visited a site, how they came to the site and what keywords they enter on the site’s search engine. Google and Adobe are cited most often as the technology providers for web analytics technology, with 206 and 38 companies, respectively.

E-commerce platforms, the other core technology cited by the B2B E-Commerce 300, can manage a range of functions, including transaction processing, inventory management, marketing, mobile commerce and many others. Vendors offer both on-premise applications and cloud-based tools, and there is a growing collection of major B2B e-commerce platform vendors offering software-as-a-service-based versions instead of software that clients host on their own servers. The two vendors noted most often by the B2B E-Commerce 300 are Magento, cited by 49 companies, and Oracle NetSuite by 23.

The B2B E-Commerce 300 companies, ranked on their projected 2017 e-commerce sales, collectively account for $563.65 billion in e-commerce revenue. That’s 63.4% of the estimated total $889 billion in e-commerce sales in the United States for 2017 projected by Forrester Research Inc.
