The Enterprise Group’s sales of servers, storage and networking technology tops $3 billion online.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise recorded an overall decline in its fiscal second quarter sales as it continues to sort itself out after spinning off from HP Inc. in late 2015.

HPE, a manufacturer of internet network servers and other information technology hardware and software products, said in its Q2 earnings report Wednesday its Enterprise Group revenue from continuing operations was $6.243 billion. That was down 12.8% year over year from $7.159 billion, HPE said.

Servers revenue was down 14% for the group; data storage revenue was down 13%; networking revenue was down 30%. The company did not break out sales in dollars for these segments.

HPE has said it sells about 50% of its Enterprise Group products online. Using that percentage, fiscal Q2 2017 online sales for the Enterprise Group were $3.122 billion, compared with $3.579 billion in the prior year quarter.

The Enterprise Group includes products sold by its Enterprise Online Store, where buyers can configure and order large complex systems like network servers with multiple blades or server modules for computing and data storage; and its Parts Store for ordering replacement parts. HPE also provides an online marketplace where buyers can view information on HPE products and click to the e-commerce sites of resellers and other channel partners to purchase products and services.

For the second quarter ended April 30, HPE also reported:

  • Software sales from continuing operations of $685 million, down 11.5% from $774 million in the same quarter last year.
  • Financial services sales of $872 million, up 10.7% from $788 million.
  • Net earnings from continuing operations of $769 million, down 26.8% from net earnings of $1.05 billion in Q2 2016.

In November 2015, Hewlett-Packard separated into two public companies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. HPE focused on selling servers, services and software to businesses while HPI took on the consumer personal computer and printers business.

For the first six months of fiscal 2017, HPE reported:

  • Enterprise Group sales of $12.57 billion, down 12.3% from $14.34 billion in the same period last year.
  • Software sales of $1.41 billion, down 9.0% from $1.55 billion.
  • Financial services sales of $1.70 billion, up 9.0% from $1.56 billion.
  • Net earnings of $1.76 billion, down 19.3% from $2.18 billion.
