But 43% of consumers that don’t have health insurance may qualify for Medicaid or a tax credit from the federal government if they go online to sign up for insurance, according to an analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation. “Approximately a quarter of the uninsured population is not eligible for any assistance under the Affordable Care Act because they have access to employer coverage that may be considered affordable or have incomes too high to qualify for Medicaid or Marketplace subsidies,” Kaiser says.
