Diane Ellis also spent six years working for Brooks Brothers.

Apparel retailer Chico’s FAS Inc. hired a new president for its flagship brand.

Diane Ellis will join Chico’s in her new role on Nov. 1. Chico’s FAS is No. 85 in the Internet Retailer 2016 Top 500 Guide. Ellis replaces Cynthia Murray, who left in August.

“The company has made great strides with its strategic initiatives, and as the retail landscape and customer behavior evolves, I’m excited to lead and support the team as we continue to strengthen Chico’s brand position and find new ways to innovate and delight our customers,” she said.

Ellis is a retail veteran who has spent the past three years as CEO of multichannel women’s apparel and accessories retailer The Limited (No. 216 in the Top 500). During her time at the helm, The Limited grew its online sales to $130 million in 2015, up 52.9% from $85 million in 2014. Before joining The Limited in August 2013, Ellis spent six years as president and chief operating officer at apparel retailer Brooks Brothers Group Inc. (No. 157).

Ellis joins Chico’s during a year of turmoil for the company. In August, the company laid off 200 employees as part of a cost-cutting and restructuring maneuver that it said will save it $25 million per year. In April, the company announced chief marketing officer and president of e-commerce Miki Racine Berardelli would leave as part of another restructuring aimed at saving the company a total of $14 million. Berardelli was named CEO of children’s apparel retail startup Kidbox in August.
