Vidya Jwala has worked for four other Top 500 retailers before taking the Overstock job.

Overstock.com Inc. has hired a Wal-Mart Stores Inc. veteran to beef up its supply chain and customer service capabilities.

Overstock, No. 29 in the Internet Retailer 2016 Top 500 Guide, hired Vidya Jwala to be its new senior vice president of demand fulfillment. The position is new to the retailer and is essentially a revamped version of the senior vice president of merchandising role, though an Overstock spokeswoman declines to specify why the company changed this particular role. According to a company announcement, Jwala, will be charged with “overseeing the e-commerce leader’s sourcing, merchandising, supply chain and customer-care businesses.”

“Vidya brings the knowledge and data-driven approach needed to scale our sourcing and supply chain efforts,” said Overstock president Saum Noursalehi.

Jwala brings an abundance of retail fulfillment and merchandising experience. He has spent the past seven years at Wal-Mart (No. 4 in the Top 500) as the retail chain’s vice president of merchandising and operations. He has also made stops at retail farm and ranch supply chain Tractor Supply Co. (No. 313), Lowe’s Cos. Inc. (No. 27) and Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores (No. 291).
