Kohl’s Corp. says its holiday hiring has an omnichannel focus this year.

Kohl’s, No. 19 in the Internet Retailer 2016 Top 500 Guide, on Monday said it will add 69,000 jobs this holiday season and spread those positions across its distribution and fulfillment centers and its stores, though it didn’t specify how those jobs would be divided. The retail chain hired the same amount of seasonal employees last holiday season.

Kohl’s emphasized the online order fulfillment aspect of seasonal store associates positions in its hiring announcement. “Store associates stock merchandise and assist customers on the sales floor and at the point of sale. They also help fill buy online, pick up in store orders from Kohls.com, as well as fulfill Kohls.com orders designated to ship from stores direct to Kohl’s customers,” the retailer said.

During its fiscal second quarter ended July 30, Kohl’s reported 23% of all online orders were fulfilled by one of its stores in some capacity, meaning either the order was shipped from a store or picked up in-store.

Kohl’s becomes the third major retailer this month to announce its holiday hiring plans. Last week, Toys R Us Inc. (No. 35 in the Top 500) said it will hire an unspecified number of employees for the holidays, and a spokeswoman told Internet Retailer that the retail chain is placing greater emphasis on hiring seasonal workers for its e-commerce fulfillment centers.

On Sept. 12, Target Corp. (No. 22) announced plans to hire 70,000 seasonal employees and 7,500 for its distribution and fulfillment centers. The 7,500 seasonal and distribution center employees is 15.4% more than the 6,500 employees it hired for those centers last year.

Package-delivery company United Parcel Service Inc. last week said it plans to hire about 95,000 seasonal workers, close to the 93,000 it hired in 2015. UPS primarily will add package handlers, drivers and driver helpers ahead of its busiest season this year, which starts in November and continues through January. While the positions are temporary, more than 37% of handlers were hired for permanent jobs from 2012 through 2014, the company said. UPS is the shipping carrier for 421 retailers in the Internet Retailer 2016 Top 1000, according to Top500Guide.com data.
