PC Connection Inc. has rebranded itself as Connection to bring four separate business units together under one name and reflect the changing technology needs of its customers, the company says.

Connection unites four previously independent business segments: PC Connection, which serves mostly small- and medium-sized business clients, along with consumers; GovConnection, provider of I.T. products and services to federal, state and local government agencies, and educational institutions; MoreDirect, which provides corporate clients with I.T. products and supply chain services, and access through a proprietary cloud-based e-procurement system to its more than 300,000 products and 1,600 vendors; and Softmart, a provider of hardware, software and services to businesses, government, and educational and healthcare organizations.

Connection acquired Softmart in May, for an undisclosed amount. Software had 2015 total sales of $200 million and is a licensed Microsoft software provider, Connection says.

The multiple business units now are accessible on tabs atop the homepage of Connection.com.

The new moniker better serves Connection’s changing focus, says Tim McGrath, president and CEO. “In the age of the digital transformation, we have shifted from selling technology to connecting people with the resources they need to build stronger, more efficient businesses,” he says. “By removing the ‘PC’ from our brand name, we are focusing on the next four decades and planning how we will help customers connect with new and exciting ideas—whether those innovations fit on a desk, in a data center or inside tomorrow’s wearable technology.” PC Connection launched in 1982.
