The online marketplace for hand-crafted and artisan goods names a chief operating officer and adds an executive focused on Etsy’s mission and values.

Online marketplace Etsy Inc. has hired a chief operating officer and a leader to maintain the company’s mission and values as it expands globally.

Linda Kozlowski, formerly with note-taking software maker Evernote, will join Etsy as chief operating officer on Monday. The company had not named anyone to that position since former chief operating officer Adam Freed resigned in 2012, a spokeswoman said.

“Etsy’s mission aligns perfectly with my passion for promoting individual expression, creativity and opportunity through entrepreneurship around the world,” Kozlowski says.

Etsy also named Heather Jassy, its senior vice president of members and community, to the new role of senior vice president for values-aligned business, where she will ensure that Etsy’s mission and values are ingrained throughout its culture, products, services, business and leadership, the company says.

Etsy upset crafters last fall who saw its offer to help sellers find manufacturers for their goods as a shift from selling unique, handmade products. Etsy is No. 23 in the Internet Retailer 2016 Top 500 Guide with $2.39 billion in gross merchandise sales, 1.6 million sellers and 25 million customers in 2015.

Sales on Etsy grew 18.4% in Q1 ended March 31, driven by 12.3% growth in the number of sellers and a 20.1% increase in the number of customers compared with a year ago.
