Shopify Inc. increased the number of companies using its e-commerce software by 70% year-over-year, and nearly doubled its revenue in the first quarter of 2016 compared to this time last year.

The provider of cloud-based software for small and midsized companies on Wednesday reported revenue of $72.7 million, an increase of 95% over the same quarter a year earlier, and more than 275,000 e-retailer clients as of March 31, up from 162,261 a year earlier.

Among Shopify’s B2B clients are Spikeball, a manufacturer, marketer and distributor of a trendy beach ball game; Carved.com, a manufacturer of wood phone cases; and Herschel Supply Co., a manufacturer and wholesaler of backpacks, wallets and other types of carrying cases. Herschel is No. 281 in the new B2B E-Commerce 300, which lists companies by their annual B2B online sales
