Martine Reardon headed up digital and social media at Macy’s, and had been with the retailer since 1984.

A longtime executive credited in part with boosting Macy’s digital commerce initiatives is leaving the company.

Chief marketing officer Martine Reardon has resigned from her position and will be leaving one month from tomorrow. She has been with Macy’s since 1984 and most recently headed up digital initiatives including social media and mobile since being promoted in February 2012. Macy’s is No. 6 in the 2016 Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

Reardon leaves Macy’s on a high note. The retailer won the Marketer of the Year award on her watch at the inaugural 2015 Internet Retailer Excellence Awards last June, with judges citing the company’s “robust social, mobile, search and email strategies” as a reason for the honor.

“Martine’s leadership, insight, creativity and expertise have enabled Macy’s to compete in physical stores and digitally as customer shopping preferences have evolved,” Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren said.

Macy’s does not break out online sales in its earnings reports, however the retailer wrote in its Q4 2015 earnings filing online sales grew by double digits year-over-year, while mobile sales doubled.
