The former president of eBay Enterprise, Craig Hayman, will join technology platform provider PTC Inc. in a new role as group president, effective Nov. 23, about three weeks after eBay Enterprise finalized its sale to a consortium of private equity investors.

Hayman had been president of eBay Enterprise since July 2014 and previously was at IBM for 15 years in various roles, including as worldwide general manager of IBM’s software as a service portfolio. Among his accomplishments at IBM was introducing the company’s Commerce on Cloud SaaS product line in 2012.

“By establishing a dedicated Solutions Group, PTC is making a strategic investment in its core businesses,” said Jim Heppelmann, president and CEO of PTC, which focuses on how manufacturers make, use and service the components and products that are part of the Internet of Things. Research and advisory firm Gartner Inc. defines the Internet of Things as “the network of dedicated physical objects (things) that contain embedded technology to sense or interact with their internal state or external environment.”

EBay Inc. in July sold eBay Enterprise for $925 million to a group of investment companies, which last week spun off the divisions into four companies: Magento Commerce; eBay Enterprise Marketing Solutions; the customer relationship division, acquired by Zeta Interactive; and the former eBay Enterprise services division. That unit will combine with eBay’s former competitor, Atlanta-based Innotrac Corp., to create an omnichannel commerce provider that does not have a name yet. The new company, headed by Tobias Hartmann, will operate 27 distribution centers and six customer-service sites throughout North America and Europe, and offer platforms in omnichannel software, payments, order management, fraud solutions and ship-from-store solutions.
