The new service will pair wines with Blue Apron meals.

Meal delivery service Blue Apron Inc. wants to be its customers’ personal sommelier, in addition to helping them cook better meals and spend less time shopping.

Blue Apron, No. 318 in the Internet Retailer 2015 Top 500 Guide, has launched a wine delivery service called Blue Apron Wine. For $65.99 plus tax, Blue Apron members get a monthly selection of six 500-milliliter bottles, which are smaller than the standard 750-milliliter bottle. Selections are designed to pair well with Blue Apron meals that company subscribers receive each month.

“Wine pairings have been a top request from our home chefs since we launched, and we’re excited about the opportunity to complement our Blue Apron meals with incredible wines,” CEO Matt Salzberg said.

According to Top500Guide.com, Blue Apron has been among the fastest-growing e-retailers, increasing its sales to an Internet Retailer-estimated $65.02 million in 2014 from $10 million in 2013, its first full year in business. That’s a sales spike of 550.2%, and such rapid growth has made Blue Apron attractive to investors. According to CrunchBase, the company has raised $193 million over four rounds of funding, including a $135 million series D round in June.
