Rod Sides will oversee one of Deloitte’s largest practices, helping retailers navigate uncertainty, compete globally and improve performance and profitability, the company announces.

Deloitte LLP has promoted long-time principal Rod Sides to lead its retail and distribution practice in the United States.

Sides brings more than 26 years of experience helping retailers with their strategies to improve operational efficiency and increase profitability. His experience spans procurement, store operations, information technology, supply chain and back-office operations.

“The retail industry has undergone an unprecedented amount of change and disruption,” Sides says in a statement.  “The convergence of digital transformation, emerging retail models and technologies to connect with consumers, and marketplace fragmentation created by a surge of niche players are fueling rapid innovation. This is an incredibly exciting time for our retail and distribution practice as we help our clients see ahead to the next big shift and capitalize on opportunities for growth.”

In his new role, he will be responsible for driving key sector initiatives that include original research, talent development and strategies that guide retailers as they navigate uncertainty, compete globally and improve performance and profitability. He will also continue to advise senior management of the organization’s leading clients.

The retail and distribution practice is one of Deloitte’s largest, with more than 2,400 professionals serving more than 75% of the Fortune 500 retail and distribution companies.
