LD Products projects $100 million in mostly e-commerce revenue in 2015, with a specialty in selling remanufactured ink cartridges to business buyers.

LD Products, a manufacturer and distributor of recycled ink cartridges and other office supplies, is approaching $100 million in mostly online sales in 2015, the company says.

LD Products ships more than 6 million cartridges yearly to such business customers as National Purchasing Partners, a group of purchasing organization that offers discounted business supplies to government organizations; BuyBoard, an online purchasing cooperative that manages the buying process for schools and other public entities; and The Interlocal Purchasing System, which operates an e-marketplace where more than 1,000 public and charter schools purchase supplies.

Customers can select from the more than 50,000 SKUs on LDProducts.com. The company says its most popular products are remanufactured inkjet cartridges, which are used branded cartridges that the company cleans and refills; and compatible ink cartridges, or cartridges engineered so they can be used in any name brand printer. These generic cartridges fit printers including DellCanonand Epson models.

LD Products works with GreenHippo.com, a web site that offers customers assistance and cash for recycled or overstock inkjet cartridges, laser toner cartridges and cell phones. LD is headquartered in Long Beach, Calif., where it operates a call center with 55 customer service employees, a fulfillment center and retail store.

The company manufactures its products at a plant in Tucson, Ariz., which provides jobs for political refugees from such embattled countries as Bhutan, Iraq and Eritrea. LD also recently opened a second fulfillment center in Pennsylvania to serve its East Coast clients. Since opening that center, 80% of its customers can receive orders within two business days, and 40% receive their orders overnight, the company says.

In the next year, LD Products plans to open a third fulfillment center, most likely in the Midwest, the company says.
