The world’s largest online retailer is continuing to expand its fulfillment efforts in the second largest state in the U.S.

Amazon.com Inc., No. 1 in the Internet Retailer 2015 Top 500 Guide, is opening an 855,000-square-foot fulfillment center in San Marcos, Texas. Once completed, the facility will employ more than 1,000 full-time employees and be the e-retailer’s fifth fulfillment center in Texas. Orders fulfilled at the center will consist primarily of books, electronics and toys.

Amazon says it is investing more resources in Texas because of its track record there. “We have found a dedicated and enthusiastic workforce in Texas that has supported our growth throughout the state,” said Mike Roth, Amazon’s vice president of North American operations.

This is the second time in three months that Amazon announced plans to build a new fulfillment facility in Texas. In June, the retailer said it will open a 500,000 square-foot facility in Dallas that will employ more than 1,500 new employees once completed. An Amazon spokesman said the company has not set a timeline for the opening of the Dallas or San Marcos facilities.

As of its Q2 2015 earnings report in late July, Amazon employs 183,100 people companywide. Amazon operates 85 fulfillment, sortation, returns and similar centers in the United States, according to a recent estimate from Colin Sebastian, e-commerce analyst at Robert W. Baird & Co.
