Starting in the next few weeks, U.S. retailers can add the Shop Now button to their pages.

Facebook Inc. has added a new feature to enable retailers to add a Shop Now button to drive shoppers from their Facebook pages to their web sites.

Facebook says the new call-to-action buttons—options also include Book Now, Contact Us, Use App, Play Game, Sign Up and Watch Video buttons—“bring a business’s most important objective to the forefront of its Facebook presence.”

At least one retailer says that adding a Sign Up button helped it acquire new customers. Online retailer Dollar Shave Club, No. 679 in the 2014 Second 500 Guide, says in a Facebook post that in a three-week test, the Sign Up button “delivered a 2.5x higher conversion rate versus other comparable social placements aimed to drive new user acquisition.”

The buttons will appear near the top of a brand page, just to the left of the Like button.

Facebook says it will roll out the new feature to U.S. business pages in the next few weeks and businesses worldwide next year.
